24/7/2016 2 Comments Four legs instead of two...![]() I'm not sure if you guessed from my title - but this blog post is about being grounded! When I was younger - I hated the sound of being grounded - to me it sounded like being stuck, bogged down, low frequency - like a grounded plane - or like being "grounded" by your parents. I came to see that I was resisting being grounded because I was resisting being fully present in this life. I loved escaping into the world of my imagination and of spirit - and found being here in a physical body on Earth to be hard. Over time, I realised how rich my experiences could be by being here, being present, and that being grounded was not going to lower my frequencies or limit my spiritual connections, but it would strengthen and support me. I like to think of it as a tree, with her beautiful roots reaching as deep into the earth as her branches reach to the sky. And that is a mark of a well balanced tree. ;) In fact it is even more important as you reach for and strengthen your spiritual connections - that you reach for and connect more with the earth also. We have these beautiful physical bodies for a reason - and we are both of the the Divine and of the Earth. How blessed are we! These days, energetically, we have so much going on up in our heads. We are constantly bombarded by media, social media, and the demands of work, studies and navigating our lives and relationships - and a lot of us are not in our bodies, but in our very busy heads. This busyness causes a lot of anxiety, and energetically when I tune in to do a healing - it often feels like an electrical storm going on up there that desperately needs to be earthed. And that is where your grounding comes in. Pay attention, do you sit with your legs crossed or your feet tucked up off the floor? That's a pretty good indicator that you are not grounded or that you resist being grounded. Do you find yourself feeling anxious, lacking energy, forgetful, struggling to quieten the mind to sleep? Fortunately it is not hard to take measures to help with this. Making sure your feet are connected to the ground. Spending time in nature. Paying loving attention to your body. Physical exercise. There are also some wonderful grounding crystals such as black tourmaline, smoky quartz, red jasper, and beautifully grounding essential oils such as Vetiver and the Grounding Blend by doTERRA aptly called "Balance". A distance or hands on healing can help clear away any blockages or resistance you have to grounding and being fully present. There are many, many ways. When you are grounded, you will feel more energised, you will be more present, you will feel more calm, and life will be easier. You might be wondering where four legs comes into it. Well, I really loved the book Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. In the book when she speaks with the Balinese Medicine Man and asks him how to achieve the fulfilment and happiness she desired... "To find the balance you want," Ketut spoke through his translator, "this is what you must become. You must keep your feet grounded so firmly on the earth that it's like you have four legs, instead of two. That way, you can stay in the world. But you must stop looking at the world through your head. You must look through your heart, instead. That way, you will know God." Sending you love, and wishing you enjoy this earth journey with your four legs grounded, and seeing life through your heart! Love Priscilla. PS: Myself and a dear friend of mine Jasmine Kime from pilatesnow were discussing this recently and we have decided to collaborate in an event combining Pilates with Essential Oils. We are calling this Winter Grounding with Pilates, and it will be a beautiful opportunity to experience this fusion - and help bring you into more alignment and more connection with your body. We're really excited about it and we'll be giving away some gifts - and some amazing door prizes too - on the night. Just click on the image below an it will take you to Eventbrite where you can read more about it and book your tickets if you would like to. :)
