I am so blessed to have such incredible friends. Knowing that there are those people I can count on, who love me and understand me, is really something I treasure! There have been times when I was so down on myself that I could not believe that any person would stand by me - but they have. Despite my not believing they could, and they are still in my life. I am so truly blessed. I think for me I had to reach a point of having more love for myself so that I could see the love that was there for me from others.
I wanted to share this not only to honor my incredible friends who I love with all my heart and soul, but also for those of who, as you read this, are not feeling loved. Maybe it is not because there aren't people in your life who love you, but because your lack of love for yourself means you cannot believe that others can love you.
I would like to say to you, that who you are right now is completely lovable and worthy. Look at yourself with kindness and compassion, and as your heart opens to yourself from this love, you will find that there is so much love waiting for you!
Believe in yourself! This is something we hear not infrequently, but what does it mean for us really, and how do we get there? An experience I had yesterday really brought this to my attention. I am definitely a people pleaser! I love to help people and want people to like me. That in itself is not a great problem, but when I look to other people for approval and for a measure of my self worth - then that is a problem! I also realized that I seem to place more weight on a negative comment than I do on positive comments from people. (Unnecessarily cruel to myself I think!)
We can't expect everyone to like us or approve of who we are and what we do. What matters is that we approve of ourselves and believe in what we do. If we can always rely on ourselves for that support, then it gives us all the strength we need!
